Men's Coming Out Group
GLCS runs a Men's Coming Out Group (COG).
The Men's Coming Out Group is a safe place to meet other men who are coming to terms with their sexual identity,
sexual attraction to other men, or who are new to being gay. Men don't have to identify as being gay to attend.
It is a friendly and non threatening way of meeting others and gaining support, establishing new friendships and
learning of others stories in similar situations. Above all it is a place for men of any age to meet and have fun!!!!
The format is informal and we ask only a few things of the men who come to participate - that everything that is said is confidential,
that participants respect the situation of others regardless of which stage of their coming out process they are at -
even if they identify as heterosexual. Men can even attend and not say anything at all, until they feel comfortable.
The group has two trained facilitators to ensure people feel comfortable to contribute. Between 5 to 10 men attend each week.
The group informally run with a combination of discussion, invited speakers, topical DVD’s etc.
Feel free to bring up a particular topic that interests you. These may include: gay sex, stages of coming out,
religion, telling parents, self esteem, bi sexuality, meeting men.
You can ring a GLCS counsellor to find out more about the group on 02 8594 9596
We encourage positive interactions with like minded men, hopefully these interactions can create a network of support for you.
The most important thing is that the Men's COG can be a great experience, and is there for you.
